Collaboration Between Skyward and Alvin ISD
Skyward is the innovation zone, approved by the 84th session of the Legislative Act of 1842, is an idea that makes it more convenient for a traditional Texas independent school district to open a charter school in Texas. To achieve this flexibility, school districts must take the innovative initiatives described in Section 12A of the Texas Education Code.
Alvin ISD allows Skyaward to develop a comprehensive curriculum with maximum local supervision based on the needs and resources of the school area. See ISD’s official Alvin ISD Innovation Zone plan. Mike Morat, director of education at AISD, was asked to approve the innovation zone initiative.
